Junior Section - FALCONS

Welcome to Thames Valley Hockey club's junior section "The FALCONS" based at Salesian School's all weather pitch in Chertsey.

As a Sport England accredited club and working towards the Clubs 1st Award - England Hockey's Club Accreditation Scheme, the FALCONS ethos is to play good, competitive hockey in a fun and safe environment.

Working towards and achieving the Club 1st Award is recognized as moving towards providing a Safe, Effective and Child Friendly Hockey Environment. The Club also receives the CLUBMARK award, and become priority clubs for County Sports Partnerships and Funding agencies to support.

The club has already achieved BRONZE status through Active Surrey and we are about to complete the SILVER award. This shows our commitment to providing safe and enjoyable hockey for all.

All of the Falcon's coaches have attended quality professional training, currently we have four qualified coaches at level 1 or higher, including a specialist goal keeper coach and a level 3 Head Coach. They have all been Police (CRB) checked. Further to this, all are qualified umpires and qualified first-aiders, having also attended many courses on child protection and equity.

We have a full range of abilities from new players to county/regional standard from the ages 7 through to 16 years. This season has seen the juniors increase in size to around 80 members with new players joining regularly. We will be running junior and senior training sessions on Sundays and Tuesdays.

Sunday mornings 11.00am - 12.00 am U16 boys and girls

All home matches will be from 12.30 pm

Also due to an increase of players at U16 level we now play in the Home Counties Girls League, these matches are for U14 girls and boys as well as U16 girls. This gives plenty of opportunity for players to experience league hockey.

We also support the junior players playing in the senior club on Saturdays through development and academy training
