Second game in his second season – all left to a 14 year old
First away game of the season and apparently Leatherhead and us are quite even. We’ve won some and they won some. So we had hopes that this could be a good fixture?!?
The game got underway and it was quite even in the first few minutes. So we were a bit miffed when they scored a goal on a short after 5 or 10 minutes. That’s the third goal from shorts in two weeks we’ve conceded. But the defence is becoming better. We then equalized through some great play down the right between Andy and Josh. Josh finally crossed it and Thomas finished it, just rolling it under the keeper, proving that he’s not there just to occupy the left wing. Leatherhead then scored in open play though their left-winger. And so came Half time (Thank God!).
The second half started quite even like the first. Then Valley seemed to take control. We had some short corners and they then had some quick counter attacks. Our second goal finally came in open play. The ball pushed in from the side to Ed where he made a fabulous run round the bottom of the D. When the ball finally came in, it went though 3 defenders and then came to Thomas who finished it in much the same style as the first one. That was then 2 in the game. That was the amount he scored last season in league games so already off to a good start.
Leatherhead then came back with a sloppy mistake at the back, from a 16, which they took advantage of to score. It felt bad giving them an easy equalizer. Then they finished off the game with a final goal from a short. Overall, good play but with the odd mistake now and then the opposition will take advantage of.
