Valley grind out 1-0 victory
This week saw the return of our veteran defender Gerry after recovering from injury.
After such a layoff Gerry was bound to be rusty and after the first few clearences which were not as effective as usual, he began to get his eye in.
Going into the half-time break it was 0 - 0, with Valley very much on top. With all the chances they had had, it was surely only a matter of time before they got a goal. Tactics were changed and Alex was given the task of keeping Woking's Ross (unusually appearing for this low a team) occupied and out of the game. This he did we much aplomb and with Biddle trying on the defensive centre half role, which fitted like a glove, Woking's creative outlets were effectively neutralised.
The good work done by Alex allowed John to drive forward and he was becoming a handful.
Valley were creating a lot of short corners, but were unable to finish, with Kevin and JC both unlucky. The goal came midway through the half. John drove forward and played the ball to JC on the edge of the box. He controlled then flicke dthe ball to Kevin who hammered the ball past the keeper. With the first one in, it was surely a matter of how many now.
John continued to be Valley's most threatening player, but thanks to some stubborn defense, Woking kept Valley out.
Thanks to Bacon and Gerry for Umpiring.
