Valley continue good form

The last meeting between these two teams produced a cracker of a game, with 10 man Valley going 2 goals up before tiring and conceding late goals to lose 2 - 4. This time round Valley were up for revenge and had 12 players to try and bring the victory.

Valley settled quite quickly and soon carved out a couple of chances, with JC flashing the ball past the far corner and Jono's shot blocked by some resolute defending. It was surely a matter of time before Valley openeed the scoring.

From a short corner Sumit's push out found Rob who blasted the ball into the backboard. 1-0 and hopefully more to come. The second was not far behind when an defence splitting ball from Stuart found JC who stopped the ball then swept the ball past the keeper on the reverse.

Although Valley were passing the ball round and pressing forward, Sanderstead were doing their best to get back into the game. Shortly before half-time some nice interplay left the Valley defence exposed and were fortunate when, with the goal at his mercy, the Sanderstead striker missed an open goal.

Sharp words at half-time tried to curb the attacking enthusiasm, but the momentum was difficult to stop. Rob was playing in a complicated role, just sweeping ahead of the strikers..... This advanced role was helping Newts and he nearly opened his account for the club, with a crisp strike, but unfortunately the umpire deemed the advantage was about to be lost and blew his whistle. Harsh, but he must have seen Newts' finishing in previous games.

Postie and Sumit were all over the opposition and their driving forward led to the third goal. Sumit drove the ball over to the rigth and Postie pushed it on to JC who hit a hard cross in front of goal. Jono expertly pounced at the back post for the best goal of the day driving the ball over the keeper into the far top corner of the goal.

It was one of those days when everything was going right for Valley and JC finished the rout with a shot that came of a defender and trickled round the outstretched keeper's arm.

Two 4-0 victories and three clean sheets in a row, things are coming together nicely for Valley.
