Valley rout opposition
Thames Valley were hopeful of a good result this week as Mid-Surrey had an equally poor record in the league so far. However the omens weren't good when they turned up to find the pitch was locked, 2 players were running late and so was the umpire.
Despite starting with 10 players Valley soon took the lead after a fine run and cross from Tarryn Rostenne found Emily Peters in the D who finished superbly. Once the 11th and 12th players arrived Mid-Surrey were always going to find it hard to get back into it although they did force some fine saves from goalie Vicky Carter.
The score remained 1-0 at half time and Valley knew they would have to extend their lead to be sure of the points. They started very positively and had the majority of possession, creating several chances.
This time is was the 'more senior' Rostenne scoring the goals and showing us how to finish. To be fair Tarryn was creating most of these chances, along with Kate New, and managed to add one herself towards the end of the game. Jenny's final tally was 3 and the final score was 5-0.
We are off the bottom and will savour our first league win of the season.
Thanks to Ali Mac for umpiring.
