Valley win pre-season derby
The first game of the new season saw
Thames Valley Ladies get off to a winning start against local rivals
Staines. Admittedly it was their 3rd XI against our 1st XI but its always
nice to beat Staines.
Emily Peters opened the scoring after 10 minutes with a rare goal (sorry
Emily - prove me wrong and make me eat those words). However, Staines
equalised shortly after following a poor clearance by the Thames Valley
sweeper. Despite some good attacking play towards the end of the half
by the home team they were unale to add to the score.
The second half saw more of the same and after several good runs were
foiled, Tarryn Rostenne scored from close range and continued where
she left off last season. Staines came more into the ascendency as the
match went on and Valley tired but were not able to capitalise on their
chances.
On the whole a good game played in the right spirit and we must apologise
to our opponents at not being able to offer any post match hospitality
this week.
