I believe we are the first hockey club in the area to achieve this. • We have officially completed the agreement with Salesian School regarding the new pitch, the fianal document has been signed by both parties. The official opening of all the new sports facilities at the school (including the astro) will be on Thursday 21st September 6pm - 8pm. • Members of the Executive Committee are due to sign the final completed agreement with Chertsey Cricket Club on Thursday 24th October. Thanks to all involved in getting us this far - Vics, Garf etc!

  • We are in the process of ordering new kit - watch this space for more information soon.
  • Astros bargain. M&M are selling TK AStros for under tenner http://www.mandmdirect.com/ search for product codes: C72TK2 and C72TK1. The first are £7.99 (saving £32.00) the second £9.99 (saving £50.00). The second pair are a lot better. Check the sizing though - they say to get a size bigger as they are slightly smaller than normal shoes. I bought some and had to get a size 10.5 rather than my normal size 9.

12th July [Message from Bails our Club Secretary.]

Dear all,

A few updates for you.

  • The recent pitch opening day and club bbq was a big success with a full mixed seniors game played and then juniors afterwards before heading back to the clubhouse in Chertsey for a great bbq. Many people commented on skills displayed by the Juniors -a tribute to the hard work put in by Mark, Hannah and Linda Lennard and the efforts of our younger members themselves. £110 was raised from BBQ sales (the meat was donated by Outback Steakhouse as part of their sponsorship deal with the Juniors).
  • The Executive and Playing Committees are looking at means of recruiting new players for the season ahead as we are going to be very tight for players. We would encourage all club members to try to recruit new players by what ever means possible - persuading relations / friends or work colleagues to come and join us and give hockey a try. Anybody that want's to try hockey out can come along to training for a taster.
  • Club training is scheduled to start on Wednesday 23rd August, 7.30pm - 9pm, on the new pitch at Salesian School. This season we intend to mix mens and ladies together to start with but run two sessions at the same time - an advanced session for more experienced players led by Ian Gadd, and another session for less experienced players / beginners run by Linda Lennard
  • The Junior section / colts (recently re-branded as the Thames Valley Falcons) are holding an enrolment day on the 17th September (see attached). Junior training will continue then on Sundays from 10am-12pm.
  • The club is pushing hard to achieve the first step on the way to 'Clubmark' status / Club 1st award by applying for 'Active Surrey Club Accreditation' Bronze Award. You will see further communications about this shortly.
  • Remember the club website at: http://www.thamesvalleyhockeyclub.com and remember to try to pop down to the new clubhouse on Thursdays for a drink!
Best wishes all,
