Dear all (and Chertesy CC via Kieran - please come along and join us!!)
Just a quick reminder of the bar rota and social do's planned for the season ahead.
- The clubhouse will usually be open on Wednesday evenings from about 9pm (after training) for a drink.
- On Saturday evenings the clubhouse will be open from 6.30pm until 9pm, run by the teams themselves according to the bar rota below, as in previous years. If sufficient numbers are present, and there is a responsible club member willing to remain and properly secure the premises, then on any given Saturday night it may be open beyond 9pm.
- The clubhouse will also be opened on Saturdays, by the Captain of the home team(s) playing that day, after the match for drinks and teas with the opposition - please make the effort to at least come back for a drink after your home match and help entertain your opposition.
We are a social club so please do come down for a beer (or soft drink) or two and catch up with friends, make new ones or dissect the highlights and lowlights of the days hockey!! It's a nice warm, family friendly, non-smoking environment, with real ales from the barrel usually available! What can you do as team when you are running the bar that's a bit different - which team can provide the most entertaining, fun, well attended successful night!!!??? Ultimately we need our bar profits to pay for our use of the clubhouse.
The next large function is the Halloween Pary on 28th October. It should be good fun with activities etc available for kids too. Any ideas for games / activities etc, or offers of help, to Sam Stone: samantha1970@shaw.ca .
- 28-Oct Ladies 2nd XI (Halloween Fancy Dress Party)
- 09-Dec Exec Committee (Xmas Party)
- 31-Mar Ladies ? (Drink the bar dry)
Bar Events
The clubhouse is at Chertsey Cricket Club, Grove Road, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16, 9DL.

Chertsey Cricket Club Dinner, 28th October 2006
Hi there all,
Another note - sorry!
Our hosts at the new clubhouse, Chertsey Cricket Club, have invited us to join them at the end of season dinner. A number of us are already down to attend (see below), but are looking for a few more to make up a TVHC table (or even two tables, space permitting!!).
Please let me know if you are interested in joining us, it sounds like a good evening / venue and would be a great way of meeting more of the cricket club members and further strengthening the growing relationship between our two clubs.
Cheers
Bails

- Bails (yes that's me!!) and Jes were recently got engaged on Porthchapel beach in Cornwall on Sunday 10th September. We'd love you to come and join us for a celebratory drink or two on the evening of Sat 7th October at the new clubhouse (Grove Road, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16, 9DL)
Bails and Jes engagement
- The official opening of the new sports facilities at Salesian School on 21st Sept went well. TVHC ran a juniors session on the new astroturf before the official open speeches and unveiling of the plaque. The bishop who opened the facilities also blessed them, remarked to all that "Thames Valley Hockey Club had better watch what they do on here as it's now Holy ground" !! We released a statement to the press (Surrey Herald) to hopefully accompany some words from the school and some photos:
"Thames Valley Hockey Club, who have recently received the Bronze Award through Active Surrey's Club Accreditation scheme, are pleased to be key partners with Salesian School for development & use of their wonderful new astroturf pitch. TVHC have injected a significant sum of cash into the project in return for use of preferred slots over a 3 year period, and a seat on the Partnership Management Committee. This is seen as the start of a long term mutually beneficial relationship between the school and the club, promoting the development of hockey at the school and within the community, providing TVHC with a much needed home ground and a membership feed. TVHC are keen to welcome new players of all abilities and ages, from all sections of the community. For more information please see http://www.thamesvalleyhockeyclub.com/."

Jeanette and Bails hope to see you there for a beer or two (or three etc!) to celebrate their engagement too.
- Remember training: Seniors on Wed nights 7.30-9pm and Juniors training Sunday mornings 10am-12pm, both at the new astroturf at Salesian School, Guildford Road, Chertsey, KT16 9LU.
