26th Feb TVHC Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony

Dear all,

the TVHC annual club dinner will be held at Chertsey Cricket Club on 31st March 2007. 7.00pm for 7.30pm.

Tickets priced at £30 per person are available from me. Tickets must be purchased in advance (I have to confirm numbers and dietary requirements to the caterers). Drinks must be purchased on the night from the bar - a selection of wines will be available.

The dress code is smart - lounge suits or dinner suits for the men and posh frocks for the ladies.

Numbers are limited and tickets will be allocated on a strictly first come first served basis. You can reserve your place by e-mailing me but the only way to properly secure your place is to pay up!

Those who require a vegetarian meal must let me know when they purchase their tickets (otherwise you'll get the lamb like everyone else!).

Please hand your cheques (made payable to "Thames Valley Hockey Club") to me personally or post them to

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via e-mail or call me on 07810 648941

Cheers

13th Feb CCC Social Summer Cricket League

Dear all,

Over the summer CCC run a social cricket league for local companies etc to participate. Matches are week nights and roughly biweekly, details of start dates day of week etc not clear yet, and kit can be provided (e.g. bat / pads etc).

TVHC have been invited to participate, so I was actioned to ask who'd like to join the team.

Please let me know if you'd like to join in - I guess girls too!

A number of folks have already verbally expressed an interest (Gaddy, Queenie, Mikey J, Will Cooper, Jo Keech, Bails, Gerry, and hopefully Boasty & Newts)

Cheers

25th Jan TVHC 'Club Night': Last Saturday in each month.....

Hi there all,

We would like to make a special focus for trying to get numbers down to the clubhouse on the last Saturday in every month - "Club Night". Perhaps folks can try to make a special effort to come down at least once a month, in the knowledge that it's likely to be a lively and fun evening with a good chance of catching up with friends. Club Night may or may not coincide with a function or theme. It's a non-smoking venue now, is clean and child friendly with a well stocked / priced bar.

The more folks that make it down the better, as the more people present the bigger the buzz and the livelier the discussions (and also the more revenue to help pay for our use of the clubhouse). At the moment, unless there is a special function on, numbers on a Saturday night are patchy.

On other Saturday evenings the clubhouse will continue to be open from 6.30pm until 9pm, run by the teams themselves according to the bar rota: http://www.thamesvalleyhockeyclub.com/2006_7/events/bar_events.html. The clubhouse will also usually be open on Wednesday evenings from about 9pm (after training) for a drink.

Just a reminder too of planned 'Events' for the remainder of the season:

  • 24-Feb - Quiz Night
  • 31-Mar - Drink the bar dry
  • ?? - CCC vs TVHC at both cricket / hockey coupled with BBQ / Beer Fest?? - idea in the pipeline - watch this space
  • ?? - Club Dinner, date t.b.c., possibly held in the clubhouse itself!

If anyone has ideas / suggestions / feedback to help make Saturday nights more socialble events at the clubhouse - please let us know.

Cheers

23rd November

Dear all,

A quick report on the recent U14 Tournament, which was a great success. Guildford were runners up in the girls and Leatherhead were just beaten by a Golden Goal in the boys final. I think our girls narrowly missed out on being in the final.

There were 9 squads there for the 7 a side games played on half a pitch (mini hockey), so approaching 75 Juniors in total with subs. Many parents came along to watch too so I estimate there were some 130 people there at one stage, the car park was certainly full to overflowing!

A big thanks to Mark Robinson, Linda Lennard and Hannah Sprake for making it such a well organised successful day. I'm sure they will be asking for help with umpiring and tea serving for the next U12 tournament on 10th December - if you would like to volunteer please mail Hannah on hjsprake@HOTMAIL.COM

Thanks should also go to Linda and Gerry, Gaddie and the school for helping to get the second set of goals assembled and set up and the extra markings down on the pitch.

Attached are some photos of the day: here and here.

12th November

Dear all,

The next club social event is on Saturday 9th December in the evening, commencing from 6.30pm, at the 'smoke-free' clubhouse, Chertsey Cricket Club, Grove Road, Chertsey.

We plan to provide food (chilli and jacket potatoes) for a nominal charge, there will be music too and a real ale from the barrel, there will be no 'entrance fee'.

Please, please, please do come down and support your club and catch up with friends old and new. Feel free to bring along friends and family if you wish.

  • Kieran - please could you circulate to Chertsey CC, we'd love to welcome all from the cricket club along to join us.
  • Mark Robinson - please could you circulate to the TVHC Faclons and parents
  • We'd also like to extend a warm welcome to players who have joined us from Royal Holloway, and would love it if you could join us for this 'return' social do following the visit some of us made to Tommies / Stumble / Medicine the other weekend (it was a great night what I can remember of it!).

For those of you thinking of travelling from a little way away, there is some hockey being played at our home pitch at Salesian School, Guildford Road, Chertsey that day if you want to come along and support beforehand:

  • Mens 1's at 12pm
  • Ladies 2's at 1.30pm
  • Mens 2's at 3pm

The Exec & Playing Committees look forward to seeing you all there! Please do make an effort to come down - the more really is the merrier!

6th November TVHC Falcons U14 Tournament

Hi guys

I hope you are all aware that TVHC Falcons are hosting an U14 girls and boys tournament on Sunday 19th Novmeber between 10 and 12am at Salesian School. We would really appreciate it if some of the club members could volunteer to help us out on the day. We primarily need people to umpire the games (7-a-side games) and a couple of people to run a refreshments stand for parents and kids.

If you are interested in umpiring, you are more than welcome to come along to colts training this sunday between 10 and 11 at Salesain School to have a practise.

Please could you let me know if you are avaliable to help us ASAP by either replying to this email at hjsprake@hotmail.com or ringing me on 07811 206180 or Mark on 07811 468102. Some people replied to my initial email a couple of months ago, please could you let me know if you are still avaliable to help.

Many Thanks

Hannah
