Some positives
Another Saturday and more wholesale changes forced upon the team with the return of Del, Gaddy, Dickie and Richie to the team plus a late inclusion of Holloway player Ashley.
The game started well for Valley as they moved the ball well andl as hassled Camberley at every turn. As a result of the best spell of hockey this year Valley took the lead as Gaddy pounced onto a loose ball in the D to power home his shot. The lead was short lived however as Valley began to run out of steam again and they found themselves hanging on for the last 10 minutes of the half after Del had been sin-binned for a trip on his opposite number. All in all, despite a 2 - 1 deficit, the first half had many positives to take. The side were disciplined and more progressive than at any other stage of the season with.
Unfortunately the second half was the anithesis. First of all tiredness allowed Camberley to extend their lead and then, as frustration increased, attention was increasingly turned on the umpires as they were seen as the root of all Valley's problems. Which of course is not the case.
With the score at 4 - 1 the game was abandoned with 10 minutes to go when a trip on Del left him in a heap and in great pain to his back. Once the ambulance had left it was agreed that the game should not continue.
The news on Del is good with x - rays showing no serious damage. He is currently getting Wendy to run round after him at home.
