It was like an episode of Casualty

Things started badly for Valley in the second match of the league campaign. In the warm up Del Smith sustained a back injury that incapacitated him from the start and with no subs it meant that it was going to be a long haul for the healthier players. Then 10 minutes into the game Rob took a blow to the hand that subsequetly left him unable to grip the stick properly and so it was that Valley had to complete the rest of the match with 9 semi-effective players. Although the two injured guys played on as best they could.

Despite this at half time, with goals from Garfy and Moppett (his first for the 1st Xl league side), the score read 2 - 2. Spirits were high and the rest of the match was approached with confidence. It turned out however that Valley had already run themselves into the ground and had few answers as Walton and Weybridge piled forward. As Valley increasingly lost shape and discilpine the floodgates opened with Walton and Weybridge scoring 8 unanswered goals to leave Vally licking their wounds again.
