A much depleted Valley team undetook the first league game of the new season. There were debuts for a least half the team and they all played exceptionally well. Valley held firm in defence with Kelly outstanding (again). Sue played the ball around nicely from the midfield and the youngsters really warmed to the occasion.

It was unfortunate that the rock solid defence was penetrated twice in the first half. The first coming from an unstoppable throughball and the second a goal mouth melee that perhaps should have been cleared.

Anyway, recognising that the team were playing out of their skins we were heartened going into the second half even though we were losing. Ally went close from a couple of short corners before Valleys' persistant good play was rewarded. Rima latching onto a Sue H free hit and deftly poking the ball home. Despite the renewed effect Valley conceded a third just before the end.
