Wedding blues
The sun shone bright (a bit too bright) on the day of the first league game of the new season. Valley were already short on numbers with 4 players at a wedding and the all too familiar collection of injuries.
Hannah drives forward
They started well and although 2-0 down at half time they had had two shots cleared off the line and were ahead in the penalty corner count. This gave them some hope going into the second half but the loss of Hannah Sprake in the 2nd half, reducing them to ten women, was a crushing blow and they couldn't keep the London Edwardians forwards at bay.
Edwardians open the scoring
Valley continued to attack whenever they could with some great forward play from debutant Sally Coates and Tarryn Rostenne but they couldn't manage a consolation goal.
