It was another sunny day as we prepared to play premier division Wanderer 1's. A bit of a drubbing was anticipated and the 1st 15 minutes saw Valley defensively under a lot of pressure. Hannah, Ness Jes & Sarah W at the back soaked it all up and it was great to have Jules back in the team sweeping. The second quarter was a different story and Valley out played the opposition and managed to maintain the advantage even with the loss of Emily P who went off with a sore bum .... Jules then had to play an unexpected 60 minutes, tightarse. We were rewarded with many short corners and it was a matter of time before Nicky hammered one home to take us into half time 1 - 0 up.

The second half got off to a shaky start and we conceded 2 early goals but it wasn't long before we were back on top of the game again. This resulted in the award of a penalty flick which Sarah H stepped up to take. The Wanderers no 1 had proven her self to be an excellent goalie ( not as good as Linda though ..) with some fantastic saves in both halves from Tarryn & Dawn. She made another good save from the spot to deny us the draw which would have been a fair result.

Viv followed in Sarah W's footsteps from the week before and also had a great debut. She was pipped at the post for man of the match by Nessie, who had overdosed on pasta the night before and played a great game.

The support from the sideline and Queenie was inspiring and much appreciated by the team, who are looking forward to having Helen, little Em's and Kate back in the squad as soon as possible. Thanks very much to Ali Mac and Bails for umpiring and good luck to all teams starting the league campaign next week x
